Some say that wrinkles are there to remind you of all the times you’ve smiled or cried your heart out. For other people, they are just the surface marks that betray the passing of the years. Whether you embrace your wrinkles or wish they could just vanish, here are a couple of things that impact your skin’s quality.
Your complexion is one of the most sensitive areas on your body, therefore, the one that reflects best your overall health. Acne, red spots, blackheads, all of them are evidence of your well-being. And they are just the tip of the iceberg.
Because the skin is the outer organ, rarely does it get all the nutrients and hydration it needs. Truth is, neither do the other organs and systems in your body. Therefore, if you want a smooth skin, there are some things you need to pay attention to, both from the inside and the outside.
1. The water intake – the myth of drinking half a gallon of water per day is long gone. You need to drink a quarter of gallon for each 55 pounds you weigh. Therefore, if you have 165 lbs., your proper intake should be of 0.75 gallons of water.
2. Your lifestyle – do you smoke? Do you always sleep on your left or right? Do you skip the moisturizer? These things affect the quality of your skin and reduce its elasticity.
3. Your dietary habits – when it comes to nutrition, there’s one secret I must share with you: the more processed a food is, the longer will it take for your body to digest it. That is because we, as humans, lack the enzymes that recognize all the chemical additives that are found in most foods nowadays. On the other hand, whole foods feed your body with the nutrients you need, and this can be seen on your complexion, as well. These habits are 80% responsible of the marks on your skin, and are the main thing to tackle if you want an unwrinkled skin.
4. The pampering routine – just as I mentioned, most nutrients never reach the skin, so using creams has become rather mandatory for its well-being. Maintain a routine for your complexion, neck and cleavage – cleanse, tone, and moisturize every morning and evening – and your face will be glowing at all times.
In other words, make sure your habits include external treats for your skin (a weekly scrub or mask, too!) and making the right food choices. Your wrinkles will start to fade away in no time!
