Every new year is a fresh start, new goals and hopes for the best…
However, every new year also means aging, which manifests itself in the form of wrinkles, brain fog, joint pain, slowed metabolism and more.
Nonetheless, there are foods that can influence these common aging issues. They can't turn back time, but they can help you slow down their progression a bit.
1. Blueberries
Dark-colored berries and fruits have anti-aging effects, so regular consumption of these foods can improve many of the body's systems.
Studies show that blueberry polyphenols may prolong life by improving the body's natural antioxidant system, which protects against free radical damage. The protective effects extend to normalizing blood pressure, improving insulin sensitivity, cardiovascular health, youthfulness and brain speed.
My recommendation: Add berries to carbohydrate-rich foods because this combination improves insulin sensitivity and slows the blood's response to sugar. It also increases antioxidant levels in the blood.
2. Avocado
The antioxidant lutein found in avocados repairs damaged cells and protects the skin from UV rays that cause wrinkles, ensuring an even complexion.
My recommendation: It's best to use avocados in combination with oatmeal – it's rich in beta-glucans, which moisturize and smooth the skin.
Mix half an avocado and 1/4 cup cooked oatmeal. Apply it on your skin, leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Repeat the procedure two to three times a week.
3. Nuts
Nuts are high in fiber, antioxidants, protein and healthy fat. Nuts provide the following anti-aging effects:
Walnuts contain protective polyphenols that reduce cortisol levels after a stress test. The combination of antioxidants and omega-3 fats in walnuts helps improve hormonal and neurotransmitter function.
Brazil nuts are high in selenium, a substance that enzymes need to regulate the endogenous antioxidant glutathione. This is a key regulator of aging and immune function.
Almonds are high in vitamins B and E, which have been shown to improve speed in cyclists, apparently due to their anti-inflammatory effects.
4. Sources of collagen
These are gelatin, cartilage, fish skin, etc. Collagen is useful because it is not only a structural element of connective tissue, but also increases the activity of antioxidants. Marine collagen is particularly beneficial.
What I've noticed: People who regularly consume products containing collagen report an improvement in their skin. Wrinkles and folds disappear, laxity goes away. The skin tone becomes healthy, radiant. The regenerative processes after injuries, cuts accelerate. Hair stops falling out, becomes shiny, disappears brittleness. The general state of health is significantly improved.
5. Wild sea fish
It is interesting that the "anti-aging" option is salmon: sockeye, coho salmon, chum salmon, pink salmon, etc. All red and pink, because such a color is due to the high content in the tissues of the antioxidant astaxanthin – a neuro-protector and anti-inflammatory agent.
Good to know: Salmon diet helps to smooth wrinkles by firming and tightening the skin.
6. Bone broth
It is a protector of bone, joint and connective tissue health. It contains 19 essential amino acids, collagen and gelatin, chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine.
My advice: bone broth is just a great product, but…. Be careful and look for a great quality product. I take it in ready to drink form and use no more than 100ml per day. It supports not only the musculoskeletal system but also the digestive system.
Whatever foods you choose to eat in the new year, remember that any diet should bring you pleasure, joy and ease. Without this, nothing will work.
Fill your life with vivid impressions and pleasant live communication. Activity, awareness and self-love are the basis of health and youth.
