5 Natural Remedies for Dandruff

Yesterday I was sitting with one of my clients and we were talking about his fungal infection and his other health issues. At some point, we started talking about dandruff, and he seemed even more embarrassed about it than he did about the fungus.

Then I realized that although it is not a life-threatening condition, dandruff is a bothersome issue that hits your self-esteem.

Luckily enough, I know a couple of remedies that my father used to apply when we were little kids, and which I still use to this day.

1. Garlic – To avoid the smell, mix it with honey and massage your scalp. Then, wash as usually.

2. Lemon – Stir one teaspoon of lemon juice into one cup of water and rinse your hair with it.

3. Olive Oil – Massage three tablespoons of olive oil into your scalp, and cover with a shower cap or a towel overnight. Shampoo your hair in the morning.

4. Walnut Oil – Massage your hair with walnut oil half an hour before you wash it.

Wrap it in a towel soaked in hot water. Wash your hair and rinse it with berry vinegar or apple cider vinegar diluted in water.

5. Let your hair dry on its own – using a hair dryer will also dehydrate your scalp, which will lead to dandruff. If you really need to use one, make sure the temperature is not set very high and that you’re not keeping it too close to the skin.

All of these are things that my father taught us, by using a different remedy at a time. Because as children, I didn’t like lemon and my sister didn’t like garlic, he had to alternate them a couple of times, until both of us got rid of dandruff.

You can do the same and find the one that suits you best – just make sure that your scalp is well hydrated.
