The Top Foods to Eat in February for a Better Health

The last month of winter… There is only a little more to wait and spring will come! But we still need to live up to it:)

So, I just want to share with you how to do it with ease, comfort and good mood.

For sure there are foods that will be very useful for your body in cold February, aren't there? Yes, such foods exist, and I will give you a complete list of them.

In 1st place is the fish.

This does not even raise controversy and doubts. Fish is perfectly digested by the body, has a huge number of useful substances, including omega-3 fatty acids. Fish is one of the best sources of protein, it has practically no contraindications, it is suitable for children and adults, both sick and healthy. Proteins of animal and vegetable origin are essential for our body, especially in winter. After all, if they are lacking, the body weakens and muscles lose tone.

My recommendation: Of all fish species, I would recommend sardine, one of the superfood fish. This fish is high in vitamin A, which promotes the production of collagen, which is responsible for the health of the skin, joints and ligaments. Importantly, this fish is not able to accumulate mercury in large quantities, unlike many other species.

A universal way to cook sardines is to bake them in the oven. The fat released from the fish during the process will make it soft and tender.

In 2nd place is sauerkraut.

How can you live without sauerkraut in winter? That's right, you can't. This product has a lot of vitamin C, and in such a volume, which more than overtakes other fruits or berries. Sauerkraut is also a kind of "brush" for the stomach and intestines – it removes toxins and stabilizes the gastrointestinal tract. My recommendation: Sauerkraut is quite a ready-made dish. It can be eaten as a main dish or used as a side dish with meat. Add some onions or cranberries to the cabbage to spice it up.

In 3rd place is the turnip.

Turnips will help to cope with the deficiency of vitamins and minerals, because there are a lot of them in this vegetable. For example, vitamins C, A, B1, B2, B5, iron and potassium.

And you can eat both the root and leaves of this plant – in the leaves there are even more useful substances, but they are only in fresh turnips.

Turnips contain several useful plant compounds that have anti-cancer properties. Turnips help control blood sugar levels, which is relevant for people with diabetes and prediabetes.

My recommendation: Turnips can be eaten raw, boiled or steamed. Add some cooked turnips to mashed potatoes to enrich them with fiber. If you thinly slice and bake turnip slices, you can make crunchy chips.

In 4th place are nuts.

They are an inexhaustible source of plant protein that can be easily found on store shelves at any time of the year.

What are their benefits? All nuts are rich in fiber and unsaturated fats, and contain a huge amount of vitamins and trace elements. In addition, they activate brain activity and protect against cancer! All in all, a wonderful product! The only downside is the high calorie content, so you should not abuse them.

My recommendation: Nuts can be added to salads, cook lobio with them, bake pies and Italian biscotti cookies.

In 5th place is rosehip.

Rosehip harvest is unique in that it retains its vitamin value even at the end of winter, despite the fact that it is harvested in the fall.

The rosehip is a treasure trove of vitamin C. It is more than in lemons and other citrus fruits. But it not only boosts immunity, but also helps fight depression, as a drink from these berries promotes the production of happy hormones, well, and invigorates more than coffee, which is also important.

My recommendation: You can make a delicious jam from rose hips or simply make tea with them – delicious, simple and useful!
