In search of the secrets of beauty, youth and longevity, I ended up in Ancient Egypt. Surely the pyramids are fraught with a secret that we must reveal 🙂 How could Cleopatra look so beautiful and young for years without resorting to the help of cosmetologists and nutritionists?
Persistently searching for the secret, I certainly found it and could not help but share it with you.
The secret is that in ancient Egypt they did not know fast food, trans fats and pure sugar. All food was natural and organic.
You didn't expect the secret to be so simple and obvious, did you? But that's exactly it! It's all about nutrition.
Read on to find out which superfoods were not missing from Cleopatra's diet and uncover the secret behind her legendary beauty and youth:
1. Barley beer
This drink was very popular among the ancient Egyptians. Of course, no yeast or alcohol was added to it, so it was used not just for entertainment, but at any time.
Egyptian doctors used beer as a medicine, and even gave it to children to drink, as they believed that it contained beneficial substances.
2. Bread
Egyptian bread was baked without yeast and without white flour. Bread was baked from hand-crushed grain. Of course, all the vitamins were preserved in it, and this bread did not harm the figure.
3. Herbs and spices
Cleopatra ate a spoonful of spices mixed with honey every day. She also included cumin oil in her diet. She used it in its pure form and added it to salads.
What is the secret of cumin? It has a useful composition and contains vitamins A, B, C, E, D, folic acid, polyunsaturated and saturated fatty acids, beta-carotene, calcium, magnesium, zinc. This applies to both spices and oils. Thanks to the use of the product, immunity increases, the work of the gastrointestinal tract normalizes. Cumin promotes weight loss, improves memory and rejuvenates the entire body.
Cleopatra always paid special attention to spices, many of which were aphrodisiacs. Real dishes have always been complemented with the right spices: a mixture of saffron, ginger, cinnamon, pepper, cilantro, asafetida.
4. Meat
On the table of Cleopatra there were always beef, lamb, ducks and geese. Of all the meats, she preferred goose meat the most. The benefits of goose meat are simply enormous. Healthy and beautiful skin, healthy digestion and nervous system – all this is possible thanks to the use of goose meat.
How to properly and easily prepare goose breast and even how to cook it quickly and correctly you can find out in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3HjZHiTxkw
5. Dairy products and cheese
Dairy products were popular as cows and goats were milked. In the era of the absence of refrigerators, fresh milk quickly turned sour. Therefore, yogurt or cheese were used more often. These foods are known to be a source of animal protein, calcium, and beneficial lactic acid bacteria. Almost no diet is complete without them. Cleopatra not only bathed in milk, but also willingly ate all its derivatives.
6. Olive oil
For the Egyptians, olive trees were extremely important and even sacred. They used the precious olive oil for culinary, cosmetic and religious purposes. For example, the ancient Egyptians, like the Greeks and Romans, did not have soap. They rubbed olive oil into the skin and then scraped it off along with the dirt and dead skin cells.
Queen Cleopatra loved to use olive oil on the skin of both the face and the whole body. Using olive oil can prevent signs of aging, sun damage and acne.
7. Honey
Honey contains about 300 valuable components combined into a unique balanced formula that cannot be recreated in artificial conditions. Honey has excellent moisturizing and exfoliating properties. In addition, honey is an excellent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent. In other words, honey treatments help to rejuvenate the skin and give it a glow of freshness, literally turning back the clock, and Cleopatra is proof of that!
8. Almonds
The Queen included them both in her diet and in her skin care ritual. Due to the high content of healthy fats (omega-6), vitamin E and antioxidants, almonds help to visibly slow down the skin aging process.
Cleopatra also added almond oil to her usual baths with donkey milk and honey.
Adapting to our days, we can mix half a cup of honey with 3 cups of milk and 5 tablespoons of almond oil (you can also use olive oil). Pour the product into water, take a relaxing bath and you will have velvety skin.
Tip: If you run out of brow pencil and eyeshadow, roast some almonds. The Queen of Egypt used this roasted nut to darken her eyebrows.
9. Figs
Figs are rich in vitamins and other very useful substances. And besides this, figs are the most ancient aphrodisiac of all that exist on Earth. It was the aphrodisiac figs that were used in antiquity to almost instantly increase libido and improve fertility in women and men. Figs were the favorite fruit of Queen Cleopatra.
10. Grapes
Grapes have a beneficial effect on all organs. So, fiber helps digestion, and the minerals contained in the berries have a beneficial effect on the nervous system. Grape seeds contain vitamins A, E and K, as well as natural oils. All these substances contribute to the strengthening of cells and a rejuvenating effect.
Cleopatra had a special recipe for getting rid of unwanted sunburn. You can use it today: take a glass of green grapes and a tablespoon of honey. Mix and apply to the skin. After 15 minutes, the tan will disappear from the body.
As you can see, the menu of the Egyptian queen was not much different from our usual healthy way of eating. If you want to prolong beauty and youth, as well as make your figure slimmer, follow the example of Cleopatra.
