There is not a single useless plant in nature. The whole green world is a kind of pharmacy.
As the subject of this letter, I decided to write about the most powerful plants that have a strong therapeutic effect. It would seem a simple topic to write about, but guess what, it actually turned out to be not so simple. Choosing the most powerful medicinal plants from the vast natural diversity turned out to be a very difficult task.
Nevertheless, I did it. Let's get started!
Dioscorea Villosa
This plant is one of the most effective in lowering cholesterol.
Its regular use improves blood composition, blocks the formation of atherosclerotic plaques and normalizes blood pressure.
In addition, Dioscorea Villosa is a very good antispasmodic, effective in any type of muscle spasms and colic, such as intestinal and biliary colic, flatulence, ovarian and uterine pain, as well as in the inflammatory stage of rheumatoid polyarthritis and neuralgia.
It should be noted that Dioscorea contains a significant concentration of vitamin C. This useful substance helps to improve the immune system, reducing the frequency of colds and flu. In addition, a high intake of this substance allows you to effectively control symptoms and achieve early remission of the disease.
How to use Dioscorea Villosa?
- Method 1: Take a piece of Dioscorea root and suck it in your mouth. After a few minutes, start chewing.
- Method 2: Grind Dioscorea root and put a pinch under the tongue, take it three times before meals for a month.
- Method 3: Take 1 teaspoon of Dioscorea root for 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil and keep boiling for 15-20 minutes. Strain and drink up to 3 times a day.
Icelandic Moss
Icelandic Moss is recognized as the best natural immunomodulator. It has antiviral, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It contains iron, calcium, magnesium, iodine, fluorine, potassium and vitamin B12, and is therefore used in many countries as an immune booster.
The American Botanical Council has noted the effectiveness of Iceland moss in treating pharyngitis, laryngitis and bronchial diseases with a success rate of 86%.
Iceland moss is also effective in treating gastritis, stomach ulcers and chronic digestive disorders.
- In the initial stages of respiratory diseases and coughs, a teaspoon of moss is poured 200 ml of steep boiling water, infused for five minutes, strained and drunk hot at night.
- In digestive disorders, a teaspoon of moss is mixed in equal proportions with flax seeds and althea root. Pour 500 milliliters of boiling water, infuse for 10 minutes and strain. Drink 70 ml half an hour before meals.
St. John's Wort
This herb has strong calming and energizing properties and can be used to treat moderate depression. Due to its antidepressant properties, St. John's wort also helps in the fight against alcoholism. At the same time, the herb, which has strong calming effects, is recommended for panic attacks.
St. John's wort is also a powerful antiviral herb, acting directly on pathogens. It drains the liver and promotes its regeneration. Several studies have shown that some active substances of St. John's wort (especially hypericin and hyperforin) affect the viruses that cause hepatitis B and C. In addition, hypericin is a natural photosensitizer used in photodynamic cancer therapy and has been shown to help reduce the size of brain tumors.
To prepare St. John's wort tea, add one to two teaspoons of dried flowers to 250 ml of boiling water. Infuse the composition for 10-15 minutes at room temperature, then strain and take 30 minutes before meals. The beverage prepared in this way can be consumed without sugar or with a small amount of honey.
If you decide to use St. John's wort tea, keep in mind that its dosage should be as follows: two to three cups a day for a maximum of three months, then a break of at least two weeks.
Licorice
Licorice contains substances that have extremely strong anti-inflammatory properties.
As an anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic agent, licorice is also used in gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. It has an enveloping and cleansing effect on the walls of the stomach.
Also, licorice is an indispensable catalyst for most metabolic processes: in the body it turns into a unique biologically active substance with corticosteroid-like action, which allows complex balancing of all links of the endocrine system.
Centuries-old practice of using licorice proves its high effectiveness in the treatment of pneumonia, bronchitis, tracheitis, asthma, dry cough, tuberculosis and other diseases of the upper respiratory tract.
Of special note should be noted the immunomodulatory effect of licorice: the extract significantly increases the body's resistance even in patients with severe and chronic diseases associated with reduced immunity.
The most useful of all parts of the plant are considered the roots, which contain the maximum amount of useful substances for the human body.
How to prepare a decoction of licorice?
1 tsp. of licorice root pour 200 ml of boiling water, cook in a steam bath for half an hour. Then strain the decoction, cool to room temperature. Use 1/3 cup three times a day for 30 minutes before meals. At night – two hours before bedtime.
Acorus Calamus
This plant is most widelyused in gastroenterology. The bitter glycoside akorin contained in it reflexively stimulates gastric secretion, increases appetite and improves digestion. It also increases biliary function of the liver, gallbladder tone and diuresis.
Acorus calamus also plays animportant role in dentistry. Due to its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anesthetic action, calamus is recommended for glossitis, gingivitis, periodontal disease and other inflammatory processes of the oral mucosa.
Calamus helps prevent prostate adenoma and infertility, and improves the work of the urinary system in men. For women, the root of the calamus helps to relieve menstrual pain, normalize the hormonal background after childbirth and during menopause.
How to use the plant?
The root can be chewed to irritate the taste buds and induce appetite, stimulate the production of gastric juice and bile, and improve digestion. It can be chewed for heartburn and toothache, to strengthen the gums.
Calamus infusion is useful in flu and fever. Sometimes calamus tincture is used as an aid in smoking cessation and treatment of nicotine addiction.
To prepare the infusion: take one teaspoon of calamus. Pour 1 cup boiling water over. Let it brew for 15 minutes. Drink the infusion three times a day before meals.
Of course, these are not all the powerful plants with beneficial properties for humans. There are thousands of berries, trees and herbs that have a positive effect on our body.
The most powerful herb is in general a very subjective concept, as each herb has its own unique properties and can be useful in different situations.
But one thing is very important to remember: all herbs are not only useful, but can also be dangerous, as improper use or abuse of medicinal plants can cause great and irreparable damage to health.
No matter how powerful and miraculous the herb may be, before using it for medicinal purposes, you should consult a doctor and only then decide whether to use it or not.
