It may seem to many that the connection between the foot and the spine is far-fetched. After all, how can the spine be connected to a certain part of the foot? In fact, the foot, like the palm, is that part of our body on which a huge number of nerve endings are located. These are peculiar centers of touch, with the help of which a person perceives the world around him, and it is from the foot and palm that information is transmitted to the central nervous system, which, as you know, controls the work of all internal organs and systems.
As it turns out, the entire spine is projected onto the foot. If you sit in the lotus position and take one foot in your hand, then the projection of the spine will pass along the line that connects the big toe and heel, that is, along the edge of the foot.
All parts of the spine are projected here: cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral. Run your hand along the edge of the foot and feel the spasm and tension – they are transmitted from the spine. A massage of these points will relieve tension from the back and feel better.
Acupressure of the foot allows you to relieve tension from the back and normalize the functioning of internal organs.
How to do a foot massage on your own?
Here are a few steps you need to follow to get a good foot massage and relieve back pain:
Step1. First, relax, warm up the massage oil, and then prepare the place where you will do the massage. Remember that the psychological state is very important in achieving results.
Step 2. Wash your hands and feet with warm water and dry them with a towel.
Step 3. Take a comfortable position, put a pillow under your buttocks and back, if you feel uncomfortable without it in the lotus position.
Step 4. First, apply massage oil to the foot, and then massage it with your hand from the tips of your toes to the heel. Twist and pull each finger. This provides the opportunity to warm up the muscles.
Step 5. After that, you can proceed to acupressure. With your thumb, massage all the reflex points of the spine located on the inner edge of the sole, starting from the tip of the big toe, continuing along the same line to the ankle. Press your finger firmly against the skin to touch all the reflex points. In this case, you need to pay the most attention to those points where you feel pain or tension.
Step 6. After acupressure, massage the entire foot again. Take the relaxed foot with your hand and twist it, working with the joints: ankle, fingers, heel. At the same time, it is important that the leg does not strain, and only the hands perform all movements.
Already after the first procedure, you will be able to experience not only a general relaxing effect, but also eliminate pain in the spine, reduce back tension and improve your general condition.
I recommend you to repeat the massage at least once a day or two days, while its duration should be at least 5 minutes. Despite the fact that after the first procedure you can feel a good effect, it is better to do massage regularly to improve the condition of the spine and get rid of pain.
