We are all looking forward to the New Year, rushing into the new events that it prepares for us. But before that, it will be helpful to ask yourself a few questions and remember the past year. After all, New Year's Eve is the ideal time to set short-term and long-term goals, make plans for their implementation, better understand yourself, reflect on your successes and failures and move on!
Below is a list of questions that I recommend you answer on New Year’s Eve to help you better analyze and structure your thoughts:
- What was the best moment for me this year?
- What internal and external changes have happened to me during the year?
- What do I consider my main achievement for this year?
- What are the most important people in my life?
- How many new friends have I made?
- What have I failed in?
- What goals have I achieved this year?
- What new things have I tried this year?
- Who have I helped during the year?
- What books have I read?
- What things I did not manage to do this year and want to do next year?
You can add to this list yourself. The main thing is to be honest with yourself and write down all the answers so that next year you can return to your notes and see how you have changed, what you have achieved and where you need to put more effort.
Evaluate the past year, do not be lazy at the end of the year to spend an hour and a half and sum up. Start with what was good. If you carefully remember all your achievements, you will be satisfied with yourself. Praise yourself. Don't berate yourself for failure; it will only increase your guilt. Even negative experiences are invaluable benefits. Making plans is necessary in order to clearly articulate your desires. To understand them is to realize them by half.
Try this fun New Year's activity – a form of family psychotherapy.
All family members receive a set of markers, two sheets of paper the size of a postcard, and an assignment to draw two pictures:
1. "Our family last year"
2. "Our family in the new year."
Then the paintings are hung on the wall, the artists turn into spectators and try to guess what each has encrypted in his pictorial message. This activity is not only fun, but also a good opportunity to visualize your goals for the next year.
It's time for us to take stock for 2021. From my point of view, there have been many challenges this year, especially when it comes to health. But if we have reached this point, it means that we have coped, that we are strong, but the main thing is that we are alive. The most important plan for the next year is not to wait for miracles, but to create them ourselves, starting from January 1st.
May every year of your life be a huge treasure!
