We put our liver through a lot every day: fatty foods, alcohol, pills and so on. Another organ in such conditions would have gone on strike long ago – especially after long holidays. But the liver is able to recover even after serious overload and damage.
Here are some effective ways to help your liver recover faster from holiday overload:
Drink plenty of lemon water
Try to drink 8-10 glasses of pure filtered water every day. This is an effective and easy way to facilitate the excretion of metabolic waste products from the body. It is even better to start the day with a glass of water that has the juice of half a fresh lemon squeezed into it. Lemon stimulates the activity of the liver. Its acid promotes the production of bile, which can be called a transport that removes the products of decomposition from the body.
Drink coffee
As surprising as it may be, coffee drinkers are less likely to suffer from fibrosis, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease and cancer. Thus, you can start drinking coffee to help your liver recover faster.
Add milk thistle to your diet
Milk thistle seed paste is another indispensable liver helper. It is a paste that can be used in many different ways. For example, it can be added to oatmeal or any other porridge in the morning. Two spoonfuls will be quite enough. You can also make useful snacks: take dried bananas or apples, which are simply dried without sugar and additives, and dip them in this paste.
The benefit of milk thistle for the liver is that it contains the substance silymarin, which improves the functioning of the biliary tract. It also helps protect liver cells from various unfavorable influences, and improves the work of the gastrointestinal tract.
Recipe for a decoction for liver recovery based on milk thistle and spices
Ingredients: 1 tbsp. thistle, 0.5 tsp. turmeric, 1.5 grated ginger to taste, ground black pepper to taste, 0.4 liters of water.
Preparation: Put the ingredients together in a pot, stir and place on the fire. Cook over medium heat without a lid for 20-30 minutes until the mixture has reduced in volume by half. Strain the resulting mixture. Drink the warm infusion in the morning on an empty stomach for 15 days.
Drink beet juice
Beet juice has been proven to be a source of nitrates and the antioxidant betalains, which reduce oxidation, inflammation, have anti-cancer properties and improve detoxification processes.
Beet consumption probably has a similar effect. However, most studies have used beet juice, which can be prepared on your own or purchased.
Have plum juice
This remedy helps to cleanse the liver from toxins and after prolonged alcohol intake. It is enough to drink 200 ml of juice daily on an empty stomach.
Massage the liver area
Massaging the abdominal area – gallbladder and liver – is very useful for detoxifying the body, as well as improving blood circulation. This area should be massaged in clockwise circles, the diameter of which decreases as you progress. Emphasis is usually placed on sensitive areas and massaged until the pain disappears.
We're lucky!
The liver has the unique property of being the only organ that can regenerate itself.
But this does not mean that you can endlessly subject the liver to destructive loads and do not care about eliminating the factors that lead to problems with this organ.
At the end of the winter holidays, it is better still to sit on a light diet.
Gradual return to sports, training, moderate exercise will help to work with the fat in the liver and reduce the amount of harmful substances trapped in it. Even regular walks in the fresh air will play a role in the recovery of the liver after the holidays.
