In one of my articles, we talked about summer, trying to determine how harmless being in the sun is. We weighed the benefits and contraindications and came to the conclusion that only balance and adherence to certain rules can save us from the negative consequences of prolonged sun exposure.
As I promised, I came back to this topic with some tips to help you enjoy the summer and the sun, but without compromising your health.
Drink more. We usually drink about one and a half liters of liquid a day. But in the heat, the volume of daily consumed liquid should be increased by about three times. It is necessary to replenish the water deficit in the body with the help of ordinary drinking water. It should be remembered that it is not recommended to take once large portions of liquid, coffee, cocoa, and also to use alcohol.
Try not to go outside during the hottest time – from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – and even less walk in the open sun. People suffering from certain diseases, the elderly and children should limit physical activity and the time spent in the sun and outdoors.
Take a shower as often as possible. Our skin is an important respiratory organ. Regular cleansing allows the skin to breathe more efficiently. The water should be at room temperature, pleasant for the body. Trying to cool yourself with ice water is the shortest path to pneumonia, which develops due to a sharp drop in temperature.
Move more in the morning and evening. In the summer, this advice may seem strange. But a sedentary lifestyle on hot days leads to exacerbation of hypertension, cardiovascular disease and an increased risk of thrombosis.
Try to change your diet. In hot weather, the emphasis should be on cold dishes. Also, it would be better to give up fatty dairy products and meat, but lean on fish and vegetables.
All leafy green vegetables are very beneficial in summer. They provide the body with not only vitamins, but also minerals, which are lost during sweat, but also make food tastier. Watercress, spinach, celery, lettuce, beet tops and other vegetables, both raw and cooked, are especially good. Basil is indispensable in salads, because it eliminates weakness, mental fatigue, irritability, etc., a condition observed during a hot summer. Basil is able to cheer you up, improve your well-being.
Be sure to salt your food. At a high air temperature, a person sweats a lot and loses a fairly large amount of sodium.
Try to avoid clothing made from synthetic materials. It would be better to choose clothes made of natural cotton and linen without additives for hot weather.
If you need to stay in the sun for a long time, do not hesitate to wear caps, panamas or hats. After all, heatstroke occurs mainly when the head heats up. Also, you should use sunglasses, apply sunscreen on exposed areas of the body.
Prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures may result in thermal shock. If you feel a headache, weakness, dizziness, nausea, heart palpitations, the skin first turns red, and then turns pale and covered with cold sweat, you should rest in a cool place until the symptoms disappear. If a person has lost consciousness from heatstroke, it is necessary to immediately take him to a cool place, unbutton his clothes and pour cold water on the neck area and immediately call an ambulance.
Take care of your health at any time of the year. Enjoy the sun, but don't forget about moderation. Everything in the world needs balance.
How wonderful life is!
