Foods That Help Your Body Fight Fungal Infections

A couple of years ago somebody ran into my office asking me to help him cure his fungal infection that had been giving him a hard time for more than a year. He seemed really desperate, and I could tell from the look on his face that it was not the only health issue he was facing.

After a few meetings and follow-ups I learned that all of a sudden his health was starting to fade for no apparent reason – his nails had started growing very slowly, he was feeling tired all the time, and he had also caught that fungal infection (and many others). I figured out quickly that his immune system was failing him, and he told me that of all the problems he was facing, the fact that his hair started falling was the worst. He always feared this would happen, as his father ended up bald before reaching 30 years of age.

It took another couple of meetings to convince him that the male pattern baldness is a genetic condition inherited from the mothers, and that his falling hair was just the result of the physical stress he was going through. I promised him I’d help with this other issue as well, as long as he promised me to do everything I told him. Both of us kept our promises, and I could see improvements in the way he was feeling with every meeting we had.

Surely, growing hair is not a priority for the body. If it doesn’t receive all the nutrients it needs, it will eventually stop feeding the hair strands and the nails, latening the growing process.

I told him that he could choose from three items he could easily find or prepare at home, if he wanted to regain the vitality of his hair.

1. Olive oil – the omega-3 fatty acids that are found in this oil also feed the hair strands. You can add it to your diet, but I strongly recommend it to apply it locally, in order to ensure that most of the nutrients actually reached the hair strands.

2. Nuts and seeds – they are the perfect mix between healthy fats and good protein. Include them in your diet at least three times a week, and you will notice improvements almost every time you look into the mirror.

3. Dairy products and eggs – they contain the type of protein that the body uses to make healthy hair strands. You can consume them three to four times a week, or even apply an egg-white mask on your hair. They will strengthen and give it that smooth and shiny texture.
