How to get your body and mind back on track after the holidays?

Hello the New Year! I hope you all have a good start to the year, that you are healthy and ready for new adventures in the world of natural medicines, miraculous food and health tips. Or not? Still not recovering from the holidays?

Holidays are not only pleasant communication and delicious meals, but also a complete change in the usual daily routine. Guests, parties until the morning, food and drinks – all this accumulates and ultimately affects the state of the body.

Drowsiness, loss of performance, tired appearance, inability to navigate the situation and make responsible decisions – these are the consequences that threaten those who forget about a sense of proportion. This is due to constant lack of sleep, as well as the fact that excessive overeating and alcohol consumption in the literal sense of the word poison the body, which throws all its strength into neutralizing toxins.

Here are some simple tips to help you get your body and mind back to normalafter holidays or just a long weekend:

  • Give your body proper rest. This means a full sleep of at least 8 hours a day (preferably at night), walks in the fresh air and quiet activities "for the soul." After 1-2 days of this measured regimen, you will again feel a surge of vivacity. In addition, proper sleep patterns regulate digestion, blood pressure and normalize the functioning of all body systems.
  • The right start of the day. Resist the temptation to start your morning off with the leftovers from the New Year's table. The next morning, after a late dinner, it is recommended to skip breakfast and drink only water until 12: 00-13: 00. Morning is the time to cleanse the body, so a hearty breakfast is not recommended, especially for those who have intestines problems (constipation, etc.). Therefore, I advise you not to have breakfast after a hearty late dinner. As an exception, a light breakfast with fiber (fruits, nuts) is allowed.
  • No extremes. The day after overeating, you should not deprive the body of food, because such changes in nutrition further burden the body and create stressful conditions for it. It is important to smoothly reduce the calorie content of dishes, include vegetables, fruits, dietary, lean meat, and seafood in the diet. An excellent addition will be dried fruits – dried apricots, prunes (they all contain much-needed vitamins and minerals, and they also have good cleansing properties). Useful is the use of cereals – buckwheat and rice (not white). Fruits, vegetables, dietary dairy and fermented milk products should be eaten without fear and doubt.
  • Removing toxins. Pure water tends to quickly remove harmful substances from the body. Therefore, the more fluids you drink, the faster the body gets rid of toxins. Use clear still water or sugar-free green tea as a healthy drink.

One piece of advice, in fact, relevant not only in the post-holiday period: there is a well-known formula according to which everyone can calculate the amount of water that his body needs per day – 30-50 mg per kilogram of weight. Of course, the water balance is different for everyone. Age, weight, height and other factors matter.

  • Unloading day. 2-3 days after the late dinner / overeating do an unloading day for your body.

Example of menu:

  • in the morning – 1-2 glasses of water, after 20 minutes 1 teaspoon of honey + a glass of nut milk or a handful of soaked nuts, after 30-40 minutes (or when you get hungry) millet porridge in water with pumpkin, honey or agave syrup and cinnamon;
  • lunch – lentils with vegetables, vegetable salad, snack – any fruit;
  • dinner – grilled vegetables (eggplant / zucchini / red pepper – any, not containing starch) with pesto sauce or olive oil.
  • Bath day. Also, to speed up the cleansing process, hot salt baths, even just a foot bath before bedtime are perfect. It is good to add 1 tablespoon of ground ginger to them. Bath steam improves metabolic processes, oxygenation of tissues, and strengthens the immune system. Do not forget about the pleasant – the bath improves the psychological state.
  • Don't forget about physical activity. I am not saying that immediately after the holidays you need to set yourself the goal of breaking Olympic records, but you still need to restore physical activity. Remember the promise you made to yourself that from the beginning of the New Year you will do at least morning exercises.

To summarize: after all winter holidays, we need – healthy and familiar to our standard diet products, sufficient rest, a drinking regime and movement.
