You are about to become as shocked as most of my patients where when they discovered this truth:
Hormones
dictate virtually every part of your body’s physical and psychological response: from your state of mind to your behavior, body shape, eating habits, and even your reaction to stress.
And even when you want to rebalance your hormones, the HRT should be your last choice.
Especially when nature has given us 100% effective and non-invasive tools to help us retrieve our strength and vitality.
There is not a one-for-all type solution for reclaiming your health.
Every body is different and unique, with its own set of characteristics. Which is why you need a solution tailored to your body’s specific needs.
Therefore, if you want to be successful, you need to take the following in consideration:
First of all, assess your current situation.
Find out what is the real cause of your hormonal imbalance.
You need to get tested and find out more about your:
- Blood panels
- Hormone panels
- Adrenal stress index
You also need to ask your doctor these questions:
What type of hormonal imbalance you suffer from?
What health issues might have cause it?
What alternative treatments are suitable for you considering your medical history?
Once you get to the bottom of all this, you can easily start using a few simple guidelines that I will tell you all about.
Depending on the results, you should watch out for the following:
Avoid Xenoestrogens, because they are a hormonal disruptor.
The worst part is that it can be found almost in any products that you eat or use:
- Beef
- Dairy products
- Cosmetics
- Creams
- Shampoos and conditioners
- Household cleaning supplies
- Bleach
- Fabric softeners
- Pesticides (i.e. fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides)
- Synthetic estrogens
- Plastics
Your eating habits also determine the way your hormones work. Therefore, if you eat too little fatty acids and fiber, your body will go astray.
The same goes for when you are indulging too much in the following:
- Carbohydrates
- Soy
- Beer
- Unhealthy fats
- Processed foods
- Sugar
Environmental pollution and medication already burden your liver enough.
Choosing to turn a blind eye over what you eat will only send your health on a downward spiral.
Get this: when your liver is overloaded by so many toxins and chemicals, it fails to break down excess estrogen.
The end result? A disrupted endocrine system.
But when it comes to hormonal imbalances, there is something else that weighs even heavier than your eating habits.
Sleep is vital for balancing your endocrine system because cortisol – the stress hormone – is regulated at midnight.
There is also a link between sleep and testosterone production, which affects both men and women.
Seven to eight hours of sleep will help correct hormone imbalance, whereas shorter sleep times are associated with:
- weight gain
- reduced insulin sensitivity
- reduced oral glucose tolerance
- increased incidence of type 2 diabetes
- increase your cortisol levels
- decrease thyroid hormone levels
Make your digestive health a priority.
If you suffer from both thyroid problems and digestive issues, I recommend a high-quality probiotic supplement to help balance gut bacteria.
The best foods that support digestive health include high-fiber vegetables, kefir, bone broth, and fermented vegetables, like sauerkraut.
Otherwise, you might end up suffering from leaky gut syndrome (intestinal permeability), which is responsible for:
- gas
- bloating
- cramps
- food sensitivities
- hormonal problems (thyroid in particular)
Exercise is paramount for hormonal balance.
I advise men to avoid intense extended exercises (running, cardio, swimming) as they promote estrogen production.
The best kind of exercise is short bursts of heavy weight lifting. Studies have shown that this type of exercise increase your growth hormone and testosterone levels 15 to 30 minutes’ after exercising.
For women, I recommend cardio and endurance exercises (biking, swimming, running, etc.).
I also would advise both genders to try other exercises that will help them cope with and reduce stress:
- yoga;
- tai chi;
- qigong;
- meditation.
This will also help you reduce your blood cortisol levels, stress, and crush depression and anxiety.
