In the last couple of weeks I’ve received many requests from you regarding the way you can control or at least manage the Rheumatoid Arthritis at home.
It is important to know that it is an auto-immune disease, meaning that the body has turned against itself, attacking its own tissues. This type of disease can arise at any age, depending on your genetic material and your efforts to maintain a healthy immune system.
In the case of RA, it affects the cartilage of the small joints and wrists, causing pain of various intensities. It doesn’t put your life at risk, but it seriously damages its quality, as people with a severe form of RA can barely concentrate on their daily chores.
If you suffer from this condition, bear in mind that there is no permanent cure for it. It’s all about being persistent in your routine in order to lessen the symptoms.
1. Enhance your immune system – this can be achieved through gradually changing your diet. Increase the quantity of fresh vegetables you consume. Also, eat more of the healthy oils that lubricate the affected joints, and less of those that increase the inflammation throughout the body. In other words, include more olives, fatty fish and nuts in your diet, avoid margarine, bakery goods, cold meats, and eat less animal by-products.
There are also a series of herbs and spices that have anti-inflammatory properties and which you can use to relieve the pain.
The Shiitake Mushrooms are probably the best-known, and they are one of the most appreciated herbs in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Oregano, Rosemary, Thyme, Garlic, Cayenne Pepper, Ginger, and Cinnamon are just a few of the plants that can help you alleviate the symptoms.
2. Swim – keeping your body in a good shape is essential when dealing with any kind of arthritis, because your joints need to remain flexible. However, it’s impossible to engage in intense routines, as they will put even more strain on your articulations. Swimming is a great way to keep them active without stressing them.
3. Walk – a simple walk in the park can work wonders for your joints. Keep a moderate pace and just enjoy what’s around you. Make it a goal to walk at least half an hour every day, and you’ll see the difference as days go by.
Another factor you should consider is your inner health. It’s not really Taboo that the diseases actually have emotional causes at the roots. However, not many people do acknowledge it or believe it is true. I challenge you to follow your thoughts and feelings, and see if there is any connection between them and the conditions you have.
For instance, rheumatoid arthritis is linked to feeling unloved and resentment. Do you wish your close friends and family appreciated you more?
Do you feel like you’re the only one overlooking their flaws, while you get criticized for most things you do? If so, release yourself from these feelings and start loving yourself more. Give yourself more value, and they’ll start doing the same. You can even try to talk it through with them, gently sharing with them what you would like.
Your health is the sum of your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Take care of each, and you will feel better than you’ve ever felt.
