During the last weeks I have received many of your concerns and I’m really happy to see so many self-aware people that are really interested in their health.
Today, I decided to address a condition that’s less discussed in public media, but which is rather common and burdens the lives of many people.
Parkinson’s Disease is a degenerative condition that affects the nervous system, and is associated with dementia in its final stages.
While the causes are not yet to be proven, there are a couple of factors that contribute to the development of this disease. Some of them are genetic, but there are also lifestyle-related issues that you can control and that increase or minimize your chances of developing Parkinson’s.
Food and physical activity are two factors that you can control. By adopting a proper diet, you can support the nervous system and delay or completely prevent the occurrence of the disease.
This system’s nutrition is based mostly on the Vitamin B complex. Additionally, Vitamins A and E, Iron, and Magnesium also enhance its proper functionality. By ensuring your daily needs of these particular nutrients, you can prevent as much as 70% of most diseases related to nerves. In order to do so, make sure you include in your diet the following foods:
- Dark leafy greens, such as spinach, broccoli, kale, lettuce, and cabbage.
- Carrots
- Beans
- Beef or pork (once a week)
- Whole grains and wild rice
- Dairy products and eggs (two times a week)
As I mentioned above, sports also enhance your ability to coordinate and the fine motricity. This will keep your nervous system in tip-top shape, allowing it to work at its best for a longer time.
And physical activity doesn’t always mean running or doing something exhaustive. Get yourself moving and engage the smallest groups of muscles as well (for instance clenching and releasing your fists makes a great exercise for your hands).
Moreover, avoid polluted areas and exposure to smoke, because both damage not only the nervous system, but every cell in your body. Nonetheless, if there is a genetic predisposition towards this disease, pollution will trigger it easily.
Remember that this advice also applies if the disease has already installed. By taking charge of your diet, you can ease some of the symptoms, and postpone the occurrence of others.
