Simple and effective eye relaxation exercises

In the previous article, we talked about reading and how it can affect vision. We've all learned that reading doesn't actually hurt the eyes. At the same time, their tension is not good. In fact, these two aspects are related to each other.

The large amount of information we "absorb" every day requires an almost constant tension in our eyes. Obviously they get tired. Many vision problems arise precisely because of excessive strain. Everyone needs eye rest. Otherwise, symptoms such as dry eyes, redness and blurred vision may occur after intense work.

The eye relaxation exercises, which I will present below, are quite simple and will not take long. So let's get started!

  1. First aid for your eyes – close them for a few minutes and imagine something nice. And if you cover your eyes with warm palms, crossing your fingers in the middle of your forehead, the effect will be more noticeable.
  2. Blinks quickly and easily for several minutes. This helps to improve blood circulation.
  3. Sit up straight and close your eyes tightly for five seconds, then open them sharply and wide, repeat ten times. This exercise improves blood circulation and helps to relax the eye muscles.
  4. Sit as comfortably as possible, relax, put your palms over your eyes so that they tightly close from the light, but do not press, your eyes should more or less freely open and close. You will most likely see bright blurred spots. Wait for them to disappear.
  5. With three fingers of each hand, lightly press the upper eyelids, after 1-2 seconds, remove the fingers from the eyelids. Repeat 3 times. This improves the circulation of intraocular fluid.
  1. Make a small ball of modelling clay and stick it on the window. Select a distant object outside the window, look away for a few seconds, then move your gaze to the ball. Later, you can complicate the task – focus on four objects at different distances.
  2. Keep your head straight, don't move it. Raise your eyeballs as high as possible, and then lower them as low as possible. Also look left and right. Then draw a line with your eyes from the lower right corner to the upper left corner and vice versa. Draw the number eight with your eyes first in one direction, then in the other.

It doesn't matter which relaxation exercise you choose: meditation, massage, or any other method. It is important to relieve eye fatigue.

A quite interesting practice (for me at least) is color therapy. According to this practice, if the eye does not receive a certain color spectrum, then it does not receive nutrition.

In addition to color nutrition, it is also necessary to eat vitamins and microelements. And for the assimilation to take place successfully, the body must be clean (detoxification procedures) and with normal blood supply (massage, hydrotherapy).

Despite the effectiveness of exercises to improve vision, they have contraindications:

  • infectious diseases and inflammations – exercises can increase pain;
  • retinal detachment – doing eye exercises with such a diagnosis is simply dangerous, since blood flow to the eyes can lead to retinal rupture;
  • the rehabilitation period after eye surgery – at this time the eyes need complete rest.

In any case, if you have any doubts or during gymnastics you experience unpleasant sensations, you need to consult a doctor who will select an individual practice for you based on your history and will advise on how to exercise correctly.
