Soothe a Sore Ear with Natural Remedies

Cleaning your ear with a cotton bud, bathing, swimming, or even having an allergic reaction to something can generate discomfort, bacterial growth, and infection in the ear.

Crush a glimpse of garlic and pour the liquid in your ear. Garlic has potent medicinal properties, and it will take the pain away.

Put some mineral oil in your ear before going in the water. Use an oil derived from a mineral source (aromatic oil), because it soothes a sore ear and rarely causes allergic reactions. Also, it is inexpensive. Wear earplugs while swimming and avoid dipping in dirty waters.

Warm few drops of olive oil in a spoon. After the oil has cooled down, with the dropper, put 2-3 drops in each ear, and it will help relieve pain.

Excessive earwax can also cause aches and hearing problems. Put a capful of hydrogen peroxide in each ear. Let it take effect for two minutes, and then let it drain out. You can prevent excessive earwax by adding one drop of alcohol after bathing in each ear.

You can make a comforting pillow for an aching ear by using a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel.

Rest your aching ear on a warm up (not hot) oven-safe plate, wrapped it in a towel.

A bug entered in your ear? Pour oxygenated water in the ear with the dropper until you kill the insect. Gently aspire the water with a syringe.

Another option is putting cotton in the opening of the ear. Don’t push it too deep because you risk not to retrieve it with your fingers.

If it’s windy and it bothers your aching ears, wear a scarf.

Take all precautions while following these instructions. Avoid using any of the above methods if you are allergic to something.
