The 3 Main Causes of Digestive Discomfort

There are many severe conditions I’ve talked to you about in my articles, but there are also some minor ailments that I would also like to discuss. Although they are not life-threatening, they affect your mood and performance.

One of them is gastro-intestinal discomfort, which has rapidly gained ground during the last couple of years. Have you ever felt bloated without no apparent reason? Or like there is some pressure around your abdominal area that doesn’t let you make a move? This is what the GI discomfort is about.

There are three main causes for it happening, and they are also your solution:

  • Low quality food;
  • Hasty food choices or combinations;
  • A possible intolerance towards gluten, lactose or other similar allergens.

Regarding the quality of the food, there’s not much you can do. This is the reality we live in – we are over 7 billion people on Earth, and all of us have to eat. The food industry has developed so much lately in order to provide something to eat for everybody, but what they provide us is not necessarily what our bodies need.

What you can do, whatsoever, is be aware. Be present to what you fuel your body with. Don’t go for the first thing that you know it tastes good. That taste is obtained by adding chemicals your body can’t recognize. You can’t digest everything that’s in the processed foods, and your organism’s reactions are bloating and gas. The vegetables and fruits that are found in the supermarket aren’t far from it either. They are forcefully grown to look good, but the price you pay in terms of health is similar.

If there is any possibility, I strongly advise you to buy fresh fruits and veggies from local vendors, because chances are they are not filled with preservatives as the ones that are mass-produced.

Secondly, the food combinations you make also have an impact on whether you will feel the discomfort or not. The human body has a well-directed way to digest food, and if you try to cheat its rules, you’re just working against your own organism.

To avoid bloating, gas, and abdominal pain, drink a lot of water through the day, but not during the meals, as the food bowl would end up incompletely digested in your intestine.

Moreover, try not to combine more types of animal protein at the same meal (cheese, eggs, and meat, for example). Each one has a different mechanism of digestion, and your body can’t process them all the same time, especially given the fact that this type of protein comes packed with fats. You can stick with one source of animal protein and one of vegetal protein per meal instead.

Also, avoid eating fruits as dessert. They take the least time to be digested, and they will start decomposing before your intestines finish processing the meal you just had. Rather eat them as snacks between breakfast and lunch.

Regarding the possible food allergies, it’s best to get consulted by a specialist to determine whether there is or not a real problem. Once you have that sorted out, you can adapt your diet accordingly.

Your health is in your hands!
