When I'm hungry and short on time, I prefer to cook something quick and healthy. Eggs usually save me in such situations – they are easy to cook, whether you fry, boil or make an omelet. Besides all this, they are also very useful for our health.
In one of my previous articles, I gave several arguments to convince you that eating eggs is good for the body. Hope you read this. Otherwise, you have the opportunity to learn from this article how eating eggs helps our brain. Yes, this is exactly what I want to dwell on now, although this product has many other benefits.
Eggs have a beneficial effect on the state of the whole organism, they are able to strengthen the immune system and activate the work of the brain.
The chicken egg is a very valuable food product, which is a source of a large amount of minerals, vitamins and other substances important for humans.
- Eggs are the best source of vitamin B4 (choline), which is essential for anyone involved in strenuous mental or physical activity. This vitamin also prevents damage to nerve cells and the development of neurological disorders. Our brain is protected by choline. Phospholipids, which ensure the normal communication of brain cells, are composed of choline. It is this vitamin that is the most important building material for the brain. Choline deficiency leads to memory loss. According to a research, the men and women who ate the most choline-containing foods had the highest scores on memory tests. The MRI results also showed that they were less likely to have white matter hyperintensity, which can be the cause of stroke or dementia.
The required daily dose of choline is contained in two eggs – more can only be found in beef liver, but I don’t think you want to start the day with such a breakfast.
- Also vitamin B2 (riboflavin) in eggs, which, like other vitamins of this group, has a very beneficial effect on the central nervous system, improving and harmonizing, in particular, the work of the brain. Riboflavin helps the central nervous system to resist stress. Therefore, the factors that annoy you are less anxious, and it is more difficult to irritate you.
- Of the 20 essential amino acids, the body produces only 11. The lack of the rest can be replenished if you regularly include eggs in your diet.
Why is it important?
Lack of amino acids in the body can lead to mental health consequences. One such amino acid, lysine, has been shown to help fight anxiety and chronic stress, according to research.
- Eggs and egg-based foods have been shown to be beneficial for cerebrovascular health – including at least one egg per day in the diet reduces the likelihood of stroke in old age by 12%, scientists say.
In what form to eat eggs so as not to lose their beneficial properties?
I do not recommend leaning on omelet: oil during frying not only increases the calorie content, but is also a source of carcinogens. Soft-boiled eggs may contain salmonella bacteria which are less likely to survive in poached eggs. Hard-boiled eggs are not dangerous at all.
Ideally, the eggs you eat should come from your own hens, but if you buy them from the store, pay attention to their validity and integrity.
I'll be back soon with other helpful information!
