The year has begun, the holiday season is over, things are back to normal, and so should our bodies. In one of the previous articles I wrote about detoxification and I promised to come back with some recommendations of effective detox products.
So, I have prepared for you a small list of powerful products for which your body will say a huge "thank you!"
Buckwheat tea (Soba Cha)
Real superfood! Refined and multifaceted tea contains a record amount of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. It removes toxins and excess fluids from the body and improves metabolism. Soba Cha is a Japanese tea made from roasted buckwheat groats. This tea can be drunk by everyone: children, adults and the elderly, regardless of their health condition. There is also no need to restrict its consumption, in contrast to black or green tea.
How to brew buckwheat tea at home?
In order for the drink to reveal all its useful properties, it must be brewed correctly. Grains can be brewed three times in 1 day, it is not recommended to leave the ingredient the next day, it will lose its properties. The grains are poured with freshly boiled water, left to infuse for 1-3 minutes, after which the drink is filtered. The remaining grains must be stored in a container under a lid in a place out of the reach of sunlight. Dosage – 1 teaspoon of buckwheat seeds in 1 glass of hot water. After brewing the grains three times, they can be eaten by chewing them thoroughly.
Dandelion tea
Dandelion is the most powerful natural detoxifier for our liver, helping to filter and remove toxins from the blood. Therefore, it is advisable to consume this tea every day, even if you are not undergoing a detoxification course.
You can buy ready-made dandelion tea at the pharmacy or make it yourself: all parts of the plant, even the roots, are suitable for brewing. Brew dandelion tea not with hot water, but with boiled water at a temperature of 70-80 C.
It is important to know that dandelion tea is not useful for everyone: it is not recommended for people with gastritis, stomach ulcers or gallstone disease.
Cottage cheese
It contains a number of essential amino acids, is well absorbed and normalizes the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. In addition, cottage cheese is an irreplaceable source of complete protein, that is, amino acids that the body needs and cannot be produced on its own. Eating foods containing complete protein reduces the risk of deficiencies in amino acids necessary for the normal functioning of the body.
As you know, protein is digested for a long time, so cottage cheese is ideal for breakfast. Having breakfast with cottage cheese, you will not get hungry for several hours. The only caveat is that you should not eat fatty cottage cheese for dinner, so as not to overload the pancreas.
Sauerkraut
Sauerkraut contains probiotics that improve bowel function, as well as vitamins and minerals that increase immunity and strengthen bones. Research shows that sauerkraut and other probiotic foods can positively influence a person's mood and help fight depression. A recent study by Chinese scientists showed that the condition of the gut microflora affects the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, and probiotics from fermented foods can reduce the likelihood of developing it.
How to cook sauerkraut?
For the simplest recipe, you only need the following ingredients: cabbage, salt, carrot. For 1 kg of cabbage – 25 g of salt, carrots at your taste.
Finely chop the cabbage into a large container, grate the carrots, sprinkle with salt, mix. Transfer the cabbage to a container where it will ferment, tamp with a wooden spoon until it gives juice. Cover and place something heavy on top. Leave in the kitchen to ferment. After two days, open the cabbage every day and poke it with a wooden stick to release the gas. Depending on the temperature in your kitchen, fermentation takes 5-7 days. After 6 days, transfer the cabbage to a jar and refrigerate.
In cooking, sauerkraut has many uses: it is fried, stewed or eaten raw, added to soups, pies and meat dishes.
Broccoli, the detox star
Broccoli is full of sulfur compounds that stimulate the cleansing functions of the liver. They promote the production and elimination of bile, which helps in the digestion of fats. It is also rich in water and fiber, which stimulates the elimination of toxins from the body.
To preserve all the advantages, it is better to steam it quickly so that the minerals are not destroyed under the influence of temperature.
Psyllium
Psyllium, Ispagol, or Isfagula are crushed bran made from plantain seeds. Grated husk of psyllium seeds is used as a remedy and in cooking.
By itself, psyllium has almost no taste and consists of 80-85% cellulose, therefore it is valuable. Moreover, for the most part (71%) this is the so-called soluble fiber, which serves as an excellent food for the beneficial intestinal microflora.
For detoxification, you can dilute 1 teaspoon of psyllium in a glass of warm water. This sorbent collects all the accumulated mucus, unnecessary cellular debris that appears in the body after food flaws and alcohol. By the way, psyllium can be drunk not only in the morning, but also before bedtime.
