What can't you refuse when it comes to dieting? Most of my patients say they can't stop eating sweets. I have good news for them and other sweet lovers. You can lose weight correctly without parting with chocolate. Certainly not just any chocolate, but namely dark chocolate. Some experts even recommend it, and here's why:

  • Dark chocolate helps prevent the development of insulin resistance when losing weight.
  • Dark chocolate helps reduce body fat in adults and teens.
  • Dark chocolate is a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins B1 and B2, calcium, iron, potassium and magnesium.
  • The product is credited with the ability to replenish the level of good cholesterol and reduce the amount of harm.
  • Dark chocolate has a beneficial effect on the intestines. The beneficial elements of chocolate are converted in the intestines into molecules with anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Stress negatively affects metabolism, slowing it down. Such components of the cocoa product as theobromine and flavonol will cheer you up, reduce anxiety and depression, and eliminate fatigue.
  • Dark chocolate can be used as a snack that will save you unwanted calories.

While on a diet, you should choose dark chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 80%. It is also desirable to give preference to chocolate without sugar, with the addition of natural sweeteners. The product must not contain synthetic flavors, preservatives or colorants. The ideal chocolate for weight loss should have something like this: cocoa butter, cocoa mass or cocoa beans, natural sweetener, natural vanilla.

How does the chocolate diet work? Here are 6 steps for a healthy chocolate diet:

1. Before the diet, you give up sugar for 72 hours.

2. Before every meal you eat two pieces of chocolate.

3. Eat them 30 minutes before breakfast, lunch or dinner. And not too late in the evening, best around 5pm.

4. Breakfast should consist of a lot of fruits and whole grains, fiber is important at noon, as it thoroughly saturates. In the evening, the focus is on protein.

5. Carbohydrates appear in the diet, but it is better to stick to a low-carb diet and give up carbohydrates in the evening.

6. Drink enough water throughout the day and exercise.

I tried this diet and I can say that it works. In addition to the steps that need to be followed, as a bonus, I have some tips from my own experience:

  • I know not everyone likes dark chocolate! Try different dark chocolate options before you get disappointed. The taste of this sweet varies depending on the cocoa content and other factors.
  • Don't eat chocolate too late in the evening as your metabolism slows down at night.
  • If you exercise, dark chocolate is best eaten before or after your workout. Thus, you will make sure that the body does not store energy in fat, but consumes it.
  • You should not refuse chocolate during weight loss, as a strict ban on sweets contributes to malfunctions and overeating.
