Can food reduce the risk of prostate disease? Recently, a patient asked me this question, and I hesitated a bit before answering it.
Speaking of prostate cancer prevention, there are things you can't change and things you can change. To find out what these things are, be sure to read the article below: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/prostate-cancer/prostate-cancer-prevention
As you can see in the article, men can reduce their chances of developing prostate cancer by adopting healthy diets and lifestyles.
Returning to my patient's question, I can say that the answer is "Yes" and "No" at the same time. Of course, there are foods that are recommended for consumption and that are very useful for the prevention of prostate diseases, but there are also those that should be avoided.
More precisely, I invented the “rule of 5 foods”. This is a simple rule I came up with while preparing to write this article. What does it consist of? Men who want to keep their prostate healthy should know these foods by heart:
- 5 recommended foods: fish, nuts, beef, pomegranates and tomatoes;
- 5 foods to avoid: red meat, beer, chips, sausage and mint.
I previously wrote about the above products in emails you received from me.
However, today I would like to add 5 more superfoods to this list, more “unusual” and exotic products that are good for the prostate and other organs of the genitourinary system:
Camel stomach (rennet)
It is the main ingredient in medicines for prostatitis and impotence, which are made by folk healers in the Arab countries. Its main property is an increase in blood flow to the small pelvis and saturation of soft tissues with oxygen and useful substances. According to studies, men who regularly consume rennet have never suffered from prostatitis and adenoma, have a strong potency and are able to conceive a child even after 55 years. To prevent disorders of the prostate gland, it is enough to purchase 100 g of dry raw materials, prepare a powder and add a pinch to any soft drink every 2 days.
Sea cucumber
Sea cucumber or trepang is a mollusk. Its chemical composition contains many organic acids, mineral salts, proteins and nutrients that help strengthen the immune system, fight bacteria, viruses and microbes that enter the prostate gland through the urinary tract. The sea cucumber is the only animal that has absolutely sterile cells: there are no viruses or bacteria in them. It relieves not the consequence of the disease, but the very cause of its occurrence. Sea cucumber is applicable for treatment in the form of tincture. The combination of sea mollusks with honey is a storehouse of useful elements. Ready-made tincture can be bought at a pharmacy, or you can cook it yourself.
How to prepare a tincture? Dried trepang is soaked for at least a day, then gutted and washed. Cut the "cucumber" into small pieces and mix it with honey in equal proportions. Place the composition in a glass container and close tightly. Store in a dark cool place for two months.
How to take: for oral administration as a preventive measure, consume one teaspoon of tincture after dinner, before bedtime.
Octopuses
These marine animals are often found in Japanese and Chinese cuisine. They are valued for their high content of minerals, proteins and carbohydrates. They contain vitamin C and cyanocobalamin. Likewise, they stimulate the work of the prostate gland and several times reduce the likelihood of adenoma formation.
Physalis
It is part of many drugs designed to combat infectious and congestive prostatitis. Additionally, it strengthens the immune system, prevents the formation of cancerous tumors, improves the condition of blood vessels and smooth muscle tissue, and triggers collagen biosynthesis. In the diet of a man with chronic or asymptomatic prostatitis, physalis should be present at least 5 times a month.
Salak
In Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, it is called the "snake" tree, as the fruits are covered with a shell that looks like snake scales. But, despite this appearance, they are useful for men's health due to their rich chemical composition. Salak palm fruits are a source of amino acids, vitamins, minerals, essential oils. They also contain tannin – tannic acid, which helps to maintain the reproductive system in a normal state and prevents the appearance of prostatitis.
Important to remember!
Exotic foods can cause severe allergic reactions. To avoid health problems, you need to test for allergies in advance – eat some of the selected food and wait 15-20 minutes. If the state of health does not worsen, then you can use it.
Let the “rule of 5 products” come in handy.
