At the countless requests of my patients, I decided in this article to return to the topic of fungal infections. As varied as the types of fungus are, so are the problems they cause to our body. So, I came to the conclusion that no matter how much we know about fungus, this is not enough to easily get rid of the problem. Especially since each case is individual, and the treatment requires a special approach. That being said, I know for sure that there are effective remedies for treating fungal infections, you just need to find what works best for you.
Let's start with one of the "simplest" and most common infection – foot fungus.
Before moving on to remedies, I will briefly dwell on several aspects: what is foot fungus, how it spreads, what are the symptoms.
- Fungus of the feet (mycosis) is an infection of the skin, mainly found in those parts of the foot that are either closed for a long time, or, conversely, are open: the interdigital areas, the soles of the feet and toes.
- Person-to-person transmission is mainly carried out in public places, through shared shoes or through household items.
- Symptoms not to be ignored: cracks in the soles of the feet; itching, dryness, and flaking; unpleasant odor; discoloration of the skin or nail plate; thickening, redness or other changes in the surface of the skin of the feet or nail plate.
The most important thing that I would like to draw your attention to is that if treatment is not started on time, the disease can develop in a more severe form. The sooner you realize that you are dealing with a foot fungus, the better your chances of getting rid of the disease quickly and effectively.
The best remedy for this disease is a foot bath, to which various active ingredients must be added. Most often, the baths include sea salt, vinegar essence and herbs. Consider these natural remedies:
1. Foot bath with chamomile and cinnamon
Recipe: 30-40 g of chamomile are steamed with 200 ml of hot water, the mixture is infused for 2-3 hours; the broth is drained, not forgetting to squeeze the raw materials; add 1 tbsp sea salt to the resulting broth and 2-3 pinches of cinnamon, after which it is diluted with 2-3 liters of hot water.
2. Baths with baking soda and tea tree oil
Dissolve 3 tablespoons of baking soda in 3 liters of warm water. Soak your feet for 20 minutes. Dry your feet, treat the affected areas with a pumice stone or a special foot scraper and lubricate the skin with tea tree oil. The baking soda will soften the skin and nail plate. And the tea tree will disinfect and promote healing of the affected areas.
3. Vinegar nail baths
Vinegar baths are used mainly against nail fungus. The composition of medicinal mixtures may include the following components:
- vegetable oil;
- carrot juice;
- iodine.
For the procedure, you need to take 50 ml of vinegar and the same amount of one of the above components, after which the nails can be immersed in the mixture for 5-10 minutes.
- Foot bath with greater celandine. It is used in the treatment of fungus on the feet, because it cleanses the skin. 5 tablespoons are poured into 1 liter of boiling water; the broth is infused for 60 minutes. Soak for 15 minutes.
- Baths with calendula. Pour 200 g of dried calendula flowers with 1 liter of boiling water. Leave for 30-40 minutes. The duration of the bath is 15 minutes.
Try these foot baths and choose the one that suits you. If the result is not what you expect, let me know and I will intervene with other remedies. I really want you to find something that solves your problem. Moreover, in this sense, nature offers us a lot of opportunities.
Relax and treat your feet with a warm bath!
